Ryan Stewart, Ed.L.D.

Dr. Ryan Stewart has served as a teacher, state Secretary of Education, school district administrator, non-profit executive, adjunct professor, and instructional coach.

He earned his doctorate in education leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and his B.A. in economics from Stanford University.

He currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife, son, and rambunctious Corgi. Ryan enjoys coaching youth basketball, cheering for the Eagles, reading voraciously, and nerding out on education policy, finance, and curriculum.

Sara Goldrick-Rab, Ph.D.

Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab is a scholar-activist whose path breaking research, teaching, and advocacy has changed how higher education understands and supports college students. A sociologist, she focuses on reducing poverty by revealing unheard truths.

Her scientific studies identifying and addressing college students’ basic needs for food, housing, childcare, transportation, and health supports sparked the internationally-known #RealCollege movement and inspired federal and state legislation.

Sara founded and led the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice, and also founded the national non-profit Believe in Students. Sara now collaborates, mentors, and writes with organizations around the world as CEO of EduOptimists. She also serves as a senior fellow at Education Northwest and teaches Sociology at the Community College of Philadelphia.
